Shortly after Rhodesia's unilateral declaration of independence from the colonial power of Great Britain, the Rhodesian Bush War erupts. After writing a critical article about the Patriotic Front rebels, journalist Levi is forced to leave the country.

While fleeing to Zambia, he meets a young woman who arranges a job for him with the freedom fighters. As violence eventually reaches Lusaka, Levi is sent on dangerous missions by the Patriotic Front, constantly evading his own past and the risk of being discovered.
